There has been much appreciation from audiences for Vijay Kartik Kannan's cinematography in Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. The latest to appreciate it is cinematographer Nimish Ravi, best known for his work in the superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra. Taking to his Instagram Stories space, Nimish tagged Vijay Kartik Kannan and wrote, “You are the peak of modern day Indian commercial cinema. All my love to you my brother.” Nimish also called Jailer 2 “an entertaining film” and congratulated everyone who worked on it.

Vijay Kartik Kannan also shared Nimish's note of appreciation on his Instagram Stories space and expressed his gratitude to him for it. He is one of the many technical team members from 2023’s Jailer to return for its sequel, the others being composer Anirudh, editor R Nirmal and production designer DRK Kiran. 

Viewers have appreciated the ways in which Vijay's camera has captured the superstars in the Jailer sequel in close-ups and character elevation scenes, especially Rajinikanth. They have made special note of his close-ups and framing that help convey the aura of the characters in key sequences and called the cinematography more versatile in the sequel as compared to the 2023 first part, with it complementing the film’s greater use of outdoor locations and dynamism in movement. 

Jailer 2 has surpassed 600 crore at the global box office, making it only the third film starring Rajinikanth to cross the milestone. On Saturday, the team behind the film, including Rajinikanth, celebrated its success by cutting a cake. Further, Rajinikanth attended an IMAX show for the film with fans in the Superstar’s first such public appearance in 40 years.
