Indian cricketer Sanju Samson has shown his admiration for Rajinikanth by booking an entire theatre to watch the latest sequel, Jailer 2, after he missed the first-day-first- show (FDFS). He watched the movie with his wife and invited the whole cricket team and support staff who understand Tamil. A video, that is now being virally shared on social media, features the Indian player talking about his plan to watch the box office hit on the big screen.

Sanju Samson has previously mentioned that he is a huge fan of Rajinikanth. “I love watching Rajini sir’s movies, and I always look forward to his next film," he said in the video. After not being able to watch his favourite star’s newest release on the first day due to an unforeseen  professional commitment in Delhi, he decided to book the entire theatre the next day. “I am a day late," he said in the video. He made reservations to watch the film with his wife, some close friends, the cricket team, and support staff who know Tamil in a private setting on October 20 in Bengaluru.

Jailer 2, the sequel of the action-thriller Jailer, which hit theatres on October 15, is directed by the same director Nelson Dilipkumar. The story revolves around 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth), a retired jailer who gets caught up in a series of action braced affairs. The new release has several actors from its prequel, including Yogi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa and Rithvik; with newer additions including SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty. Several guest appearances were also seen in the film including Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, Shivarajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Jackie Shroff.

The sequel has earned over Rs 542 crore at the box office worldwide. The film has exceeded several box office hits of 2026 and is chasing its prequel's collection of Rs 604 crore. The film is backed by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
