Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has continued its impressive box office run into its first Tuesday, with the film registering a recovery after its Monday dip. The Nelson directorial has now crossed Rs 540 crore worldwide in six days, with its latest daily collection also surpassing the Day 6 earnings of the actor's previous blockbusters, Jailer and Coolie.
On Day 6, Tuesday, Jailer 2 collected Rs 54.70 crore gross at the Indian box office, taking its domestic gross to Rs 338.45 crore. Its India net collection stands at Rs 289.05 crore, while its overseas gross has reached Rs 204 crore. This takes the film's worldwide gross to Rs 542.45 crore in six days.
The film's Tuesday collection marks a 10.5 per cent increase over Monday's Rs 49.50 crore gross. Its occupancy also improved from 49.9 per cent on Day 5 to 53.4 per cent on Day 6, with the film recording 15,529 shows, compared with 15,215 on Monday. The recovery is particularly notable because it follows the film's opening weekend, during which its gross collections climbed from Rs 55.35 crore on Saturday to Rs 65.25 crore on Sunday.
A closer look at the state-wise figures shows that the Tuesday recovery was driven by markets beyond Tamil Nadu. The state contributed Rs 22 crore on Day 6, slightly lower than Monday's Rs 22.50 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, meanwhile, rose from Rs 8.25 crore to Rs 10.25 crore, while Karnataka increased from Rs 6.50 crore to Rs 8.40 crore. The rest of India also recorded growth, from Rs 4.25 crore to Rs 6.65 crore. Kerala was the other major market to register a decline, dropping from Rs 8 crore to Rs 7.40 crore.
The film's Day 6 performance also compares favourably with Rajinikanth's previous releases. According to Sacnilk, the original Jailer collected Rs 36.50 crore in India net on its sixth day in 2023, while Coolie earned Rs 9.50 crore net on its sixth day in 2025. Jailer 2's Day 6 India net of Rs 46.80 crore is higher than both figures. However, the original Jailer had the advantage of the Independence Day holiday on its sixth day, making the calendar context relevant when comparing the films' weekday performances. There was also Coolie's steep decline on its sixth day, when the film's India net collection fell to Rs 9.50 crore.
According to viewers, the response to the first half highlights director Nelson's seamless inclusion of fresh faces, notably Namo Narayana as Moorthy. Namo Narayana joins a sprawling new ensemble cast that includes Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Hrithik Roshan, SJ Suryah, Vijay Sethupathi, Jackie Shroff, Apeksha Porwal, Mithun Chakraborty, and Hakkim Shah. Meanwhile, fan-favourite returning cast members such as Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Yogi Babu, Vinayakan, Shivarajkumar, Jaffer Sadiq, and Mohanlal reprise their roles.
The story resumes from 2023's Jailer with Rajinikanth returning as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer who is now leading a quiet life running a supermarket near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. This existence of his is shattered by the sudden return of an erstwhile adversary, forcing him to go back to his lethal old ways to safeguard his family and defend his hard-earned legacy.
Backed by producer Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Jailer 2 reunites the core technical team of the original, including music director Anirudh, cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan, and editor R Nirmal.
