Besides his work in cinema as an actor and a director, Raghava Lawrence is also known for his nonprofit endeavours. It has been 20 years since the establishment of his eponymous charitable trust. Given the special occasion, the actor-filmmaker announced another charity endeavour through social media on Sunday: Larencce Charitable Trust – The Pattu Saree Scheme.
Taking to X, he shared, "Over the past 20 years, our trust has undertaken several initiatives, supporting children’s education, heart surgeries, people with physical disabilities, food distribution, and many other causes. As Larencce Charitable Trust proudly completes 20 years of service, I’m happy to announce a new initiative - The Pattu Saree Scheme."
Raghava Lawrence offered more clarity on the decision to launch a new charity initiative, referring to an incident with a woman. "During one of my visits to serve those in need, a woman approached me and handed me a letter requesting a beautiful pattu saree of her own. After reading her letter, I began to think how many other women in rural areas had never had the opportunity to see or wear a pattu saree in their lifetime. So I’ll be starting with 5000 sarees."
Explaining the endeavour, he added, "This initiative comes from a simple thought to bring joy to their faces and receive the blessings of all the mothers."
Raghava Lawrence has decided to launch the initiative on October 29, coinciding his birthday, and that too in Royapuram, where he spent a good part of his childhood.
"I need all your blessings and support for this new initiative," he noted before suggesting that serving people in need is a divine endeavour. "Service is God," the actor-filmmaker signed off.
