On Saturday, Lokesh Kanagaraj's production banner G Squad announced that the fourth schedule of its upcoming film Benz has commenced. The makers of the film made the announcement with a series of pictures featuring Nivin Pauly dressed up as his antagonist character, Walter, and with the caption, "Here’s the update you’ve been waiting on." Written and directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, Benz stars Ragava Lawrence in the lead role, alongside Nivin, Ravi Mohan, and Samyuktha.
The latest update comes around a month after Nivin Pauly expressed his dissatisfaction with the prolonged shoot of the film. In a conversation with Rekha Menon, Nivin said that the delay in its shoot has made him star in other films with a beard, because he had committed to the makers of Benz that he would keep the look throughout its production. During the interview, Nivin also told the makers of the film in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way to wrap up the production soon. Since signing on to star in Benz, all of his films, Sarvam Maya, Prathichaya, and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, have featured the actor with a beard.
Coming back to Benz, the film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studios, Lokesh Kanagaraj of G Squad, and Jagadish Palanisamy of The Route. The makers of the film are yet to announce specific plot details. However, despite Lokesh not directing it, the film is part of his eponymous cinematic universe. Recently, Samyuktha told The Hollywood Reporter India that Benz would also have brief appearances of characters from previous Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) films.
On the technical front, the upcoming film has composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer Goutham George, editor Philomin Raj, and art director Jacki.
