On Sunday, producer Sun Pictures dropped on social media a new clip from their upcoming film Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Nelson. In the video, Rajinikanth’s Tiger Muthuvel Pandian can be seen giving a death threat to someone or a group of people. “If you try to tell anyone that you saw me at a tea shop, you would be alive when you open your mouth but not as you say it. Did you understand?,” the Superstar says with his trademark swagger. Essentially, Muthuvel Pandian seems to be warning the others against revealing his true identity to society at large. Soon, the clip shows Suraj Venjaramoodu's character getting out of a car and a set of people firing at others in an indoor location.
According to internet speculation, Suraj plays one of the main antagonists in the upcoming film, although Kalanithi Maran and his Sun Pictures banner have been keeping the actor's role under wraps.
Besides Rajinikanth, the film also brings back Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Yogi Babu, Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, Vinayakan, and Jaffer Sadiq. Besides Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sun Pictures has made new cast additions to the franchise such as SJ Suryah, Apeksha Porwal, Mithun Chakraborty, Vijay Sethupathi, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan, Hakkim Shah, Bagavathi Perumal, Meghana Raj, Shamna Kasim, and Jatin Sarna.
The Jailer sequel releases in theatres, including IMAX screens, on October 15. It is set to become the first Rajinikanth film to secure a wide IMAX release.
The film has nearly all technical team members of Jailer, including music director Anirudh, director of photography Vijay Karthik Kannan, editor R Nirmal, art director DRK Kiran, as well as costume designers Pallavi Singh and Muthul Hafeez. Meanwhile, stunt director Chethan D'Souza is part of the technical crew as a new addition.
