Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's film Ranabaali is set to hit theatres on October 16, a day after the release of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2, directed by Nelson. At a promotional event for his upcoming film with wife Rashmika, Vijay spoke about what he feels are organised campaigns against films in general.
“If someone says watching Ranabaali is a big waste and that they will instead go and watch Jailer, that is their opinion. But if 50 to 60 people come out and express exactly the same opinion, then someone is deliberately sitting behind it, spending money and doing this with a batch. Opinions are always different from person to person, but when the same opinion comes from a large group of people, it is clear that someone is behind it,” said Vijay Deverakonda as an example.
Vijay Deverakonda's comments are now being portrayed as a stance against Jailer 2, but Cinema Express can confirm that he made these as part of a general observation regarding the industry.
Coming back to Ranabaali, the film brings Vijay back together with Rashmika after collaborations on 2018's Geetha Govindam and the subsequent year's Dear Comrade. Director Rahul Sankrityan and writer Pramod Tammineni's upcoming film marks the couple's first onscreen appearance together after their recent marriage.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, the upcoming film also stars Arnold Vosloo. On the technical front, the film has cinematographers Jishnu Bhattacharjee and Nirav Shah, composers Ajay–Atul, editor Karthika Srinivas R, and art director Vithal Kosanam. Stunt choreographers such as Yannick Ben, Andy Long Nguyen, and Rabin Subbu are part of the period action drama. Meanwhile, Archana Rao is the costume designer for it.
