For an actor, being away from social media can seem like a risky career move at a time when Instagram presence often goes hand in hand with promotions, brand deals and visibility. Aishwarya Lekshmi, however, appears to have found the opposite to be true. More than a year after stepping away from social media, the actor says she is happier with the decision and feels more at peace.

Aishwarya had announced her decision to quit social media in September 2025, saying at the time that the platforms had begun affecting her work and even her ability to enjoy simpler things. She had also written that something she once believed would help her career had eventually made her cater to it instead.

Speaking on The Puja Talwar Show while promoting her Netflix series #Love, Aishwarya said she is now “so much at peace” compared to when she was active on social media. “I am happy with my life as it is right now,” she said, adding that she is “generally in a better place in life.” She also noted that although the things that initially prompted her to leave still exist, she no longer has to constantly watch them or be affected by them.

The actor had previously spoken in detail about how social media affected her everyday life. In an interview, she recalled thinking about how everything would look on Instagram, even while on vacation, and said she now feels able to experience such moments without thinking about posting them. She added that she still has an Instagram account and consumes some content, but does not contribute to the platform.

Aishwarya has also acknowledged that leaving social media is not necessarily an option that works for everyone. She pointed to the opportunities the platforms provide creators to showcase their talent without waiting for the industry to “choose” them. Citing influencer Hashir and the success of Vaazha 2, she said she could see that side of social media, but personally, she had reached a point where she was “just done with it.”

Aishwarya Lekshmi can now be seen in #Love, directed by Balaji Mohan and co-starring Arjun Das, which is streaming on Netflix. She also recently appeared in Gatta Kusthi 2 and Aasha this year and will next be seen in the Telugu film SYG - Sambarala Yeti Gattu.
