Aishwarya Lekshmi, who is currently basking in the success of her recent hit Gatta Kusthi 2, has backed her decision to exit from social media following relentless abuse from online trolls. The actor, who is busy juggling multiple projects in various languages, has made it clear that she is not re-entering social media.
In a recent interview with The Times of India, Aishwarya Lekshmi opened up how social media negativity impacted the way she interacted with people in person. The actor further explained how she is now in a comfortable space without these platforms.
"I never felt safe there. People commented on my body, morphed my pictures and constantly judged me. One negative comment makes you feel like everyone hates you. Social media made me guarded. Even when people came up to meet me, I'd want to end the conversation quickly," she said, underlining how even the thought of returning to the world makes her feel "exhausted".
"Now, I'm genuinely happy meeting people. Honestly, I'd stay away from social media even if someone paid me 100 crore every day. I still use my dog's Instagram account to keep up with news and see how my films are doing," she added.
For the unversed, Aishwarya Lekshmi quit Instagram last year. In her long note, she wrote, "I'm taking the risk here to be forgotten, and in today's times, out of the 'gram is out of the mind. So here is me doing the right thing for the artist & the lil girl in me - Keeping her an original & choosing absolute internet obsoleteness. Here's hoping I create more meaningful connections & Cinema in life."
Meanwhile, her latest film Gatta Kusthi 2 continues to run successfully in theatres. The sports comedy-drama has grossed approximately Rs 50 crore worldwide
