Cinematographer Selvakumar SK made his feature film debut along with Lokesh Kanagaraj in Maanagaram (2017). While he is yet to reunite with the director, Selvakumar said in an interview with CE, on Lokesh Kanagaraj's plans for Kaithi 2.
"After Maanagaram (2017), there was a break, as I was working on Mehendi Circus (2019) while he was working on Kaithi (2019). After Kaithi (2019) became a hit at the box office, he went on to work with Vijay and he went on that journey, I went on to make Gypsy (2020) and I went on that road," said Selvakumar. He added, "He has confirmed with me that if the film goes on floors, I will be on the crew of Kaithi 2."
Selvakumar went on to say, "I know the full story and it is bigger than Kaithi (2019). I have listened to the stories of Irumbu Kai Maayavi, his film with Allu Arjun, after Maanagaram (2017) came out. We regularly speak about his stories, and I was in discussions with him for his films, like Coolie (2025)."
The cinematographer's latest release was the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Baththa. Written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film followed the story of a gangster who is accidentally locked up in a school's toilet by a young child, which results in a journey of growth for the child and the gangster.
