Baththa, directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and starring Vijay Sethupathi and Lijomol Jose, hit theatres on Thursday. The film has opened to positive reviews from audiences. Earlier, we reported about filmmaker Shankar praising the Vijay Sethupathi starrer, being one of the first people from the film fraternity to do so. Now, director Nithilan Saminathan has also joined Shankar in praise of the film.
Taking to X, Nithilan Saminathan shared, "#Baththa Such a beautiful film. Touched my heart deeply."
It is worth noting that Nithilan helmed 2024's Maharaja, starring Vijay Sethupathi, which is regarded as one of the best films of that year.
On the other hand, Puri Jagannadh conveyed his wishes for the film at the box office. Taking to X, the director wrote, "Hearing some excellent reports about #Baththa Sethu sir, you have always been an actor who chooses stories that bring out something new in you. Really happy to hear such positive reports about this one."
Puri Jagannadh, the director of Vijay Sethupathi's next project Slumdog: 33 Temple Road, also congratulated the actor, filmmaker Balaji, and the whole team behind the film. "Wishing #Baththa a huge success!," Puri Jagannadh added before appreciating producer Priya Atlee and presenter Atlee for "being the pillar of the strength and backing this gem" of a film. The filmmaker also made a special mention of composer Sai Abhyankkar, calling him "a young sensation" and saying he has "a long way to go".
Baththa has released theatrically alongside Ram's Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, featuring Nivin Pauly, Soori, and Anjali. Despite the positive reports, it is set to face stiff competition at the box office, with several films being set to release in theatres on October 02, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. Among the upcoming releases are Jason Sanjay-Sundeep Kishan's Sigma and Ashok Selvan-Preity Mukhundhan's Anbil Avan.
