Suriya's latest film Scene has earned more than 80 crore from theatres worldwide in just two days of release, according to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk. Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the film has already earned 21.75 crore from theatres so far this Sunday. This takes the overall Scene box office collection to more than 100 crore.
Overwhelmed by the positive reception for his film, Suriya took to social media and shared a photograph featuring him with Jyotika and shared a note of gratitude to the audience. "Our hearts are full of gratitude! The love and warmth you have shown Scene, across languages and borders, means the world to our Team, Jo and me. Thank you for coming to the theatres with so much trust. Your love gives us the courage to keep exploring our horizons. Forever grateful!"
At the end of his note, Suriya also conveyed his Diwali wishes to everyone.
The latest crime comedy stars Suriya as a police officer named Inbaraj, looking into a new case with an eerie similarity with a 'Perfume Killer' case that he once solved. The film also stars Nazriya Nazim as Maya, who is Inbaraj's ally and trusted partner in the investigation. It has marked Nazriya's comeback to Tamil cinema after 12 years; she last appeared in the industry in 2014's Thirumanam Enum Nikkah, opposite Jai.
Jithu Madhavan has made his debut with the film alongside Naslen, who stars as the main antagonist in it. The film has earned positive response for Naslen as well, with viewers commending the actor for his versatility, breaking away from his 'boy-next-door' type roles in films such as Premalu and Thanneer Mathan Dinangal.
Suirya and Jyotika produced the film under their Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment banners. Interestingly, the film also has a surprise cameo from Jyotika, which audiences have wholeheartedly embraced.
