Actor Dhanush has expressed regret after thousands of fans who had secured entry passes for the audio launch of his upcoming film Om were unable to enter the venue in Chennai on Friday. Taking responsibility for the lapse, the actor said he would ensure that such an incident does not happen again.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Dhanush addressed the fans who had to return disappointed despite having tickets. “It pains me deeply that thousands of fans who had tickets in hand were unable to get in and had to turn back,” he wrote.

Stating that he did not wish to investigate who was at fault, the actor added, “I take full responsibility and express my regret. It’s my responsibility to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The incident took place at the audio launch of Om: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood, which was held at Sairam Engineering College in Chennai on November 6. Thousands of fans had gathered at the venue to attend the event and catch a glimpse of the film’s cast. However, as the crowd swelled and the auditorium reached capacity, several pass-holders were reportedly unable to gain entry and had to leave.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, Om brings Dhanush and Mammootty together for the first time. The film also features Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans in prominent roles. The audio launch was attended by the film’s cast and crew, including composer Sai Abhyankkar and producer Shraddha Agarwal.

Initially announced as Dhanush’s 55th film as a lead actor, Om was earlier scheduled to release on October 16. The makers later postponed it, with the film now slated for a theatrical release on November 20. The action thriller is written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, with music by Sai Abhyankkar. Ezhil Arasu K is the cinematographer, while R Kalaivanan handles the editing. The film is produced by Dhanush, Shraddha Agrawal and Azmat Jagmag under Wunderbar Films and RTake Studios.
