At the audio launch of his upcoming film, Scene, Suriya took a moment to remember composer Deva, who passed away this October. Nerukku Ner (1997), which was Suriya's debut as an actor, had music by Deva.

"This is a very important stage, in that it is an audio launch for a film. In this occasion I remember Deva sir, who composed music for my first film, Nerukku Ner (1997). I convey my prayers and my condolences to his family," said Suriya.

He added, "I am always remembering you Deva sir. Thank you for starting this journey. 'Aval Varuvala', which you had composed, has travelled with me all along. If I have come this far, it is because you began this journey for me. So, I am always remembering you Deva sir, and I always have you in my thoughts."

Nerukku Ner (1997) was written and directed by Vasanth, and also starred Vijay (TN CM C Joseph Vijay) Simran, Kausalya, and Raghuvaran. The film is also one of the two collaborations between Suriya and Vijay, with the second being Friends (2001).

Meanwhile, Suriya's Scene is set to release on November 6.
