There has been a lot of debate around the limited presence of superstars who appear in cameos in Jailer 2, directed by Nelson and starring Rajinikanth in the lead role. Several fans of actors such as Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, and Vijay Sethupathi expressed their displeasure at the alleged trimmed out sequences in the film. Producer Antony Perumbavoor, a frequent collaborator of Mohanlal, also expressed his disappointment over the lack of screen time for the superstar in the Jailer sequel. Meanwhile, the makers of the film also faced flak for removing an entire cameo appearance from Santhanam.
Recently, actor Meghana Raj, who plays a brief role in Jailer 2, opened up to CE about the deleted portions in the film. The actor described it as "purely a creative call" and said that "sometimes, we have to let the director take the lead."
Meghana Raj added that Jailer 2 has become "such a good film because Nelson sir has taken the call of trimming some portions," besides adding others and deleting other scenes. The actor argued that only the director would know what to keep and what to omit from the final cut of the film to make it better.
Meghana opined that because of the edits, people do not find any 'lag' in the narrative before saying that she fully respects the creative decision. The actor also noted that she did not have any combination scenes with Rajinikanth.
