Months after vacating the director's chair of Vishal's Magudam, Ravi Arasu launched his production banner on Wednesday. Named Five C's Films, the banner has been launched by the director in the 20th year of his career in the film industry.
Ravi Arasu made his directorial debut with Eetti in 2015, starring Atharvaa and Sri Divya in lead roles. His sophomore directorial was Ayngaran (2022), headlined by GV Prakash. Prior to his directorial debut, Ravi Arasu was an assistant director to Vetri Maaran since 2004 for 10 years.
In an official statement announcing his production venture, Ravi Arasu wrote, "I started my filmmaking journey in 2004 by joining Director Vetrimaaran sir as his assistant. This journey lasted 10 years, during which his expertise and my passion for storytelling shaped me into a very sensitive creator. So far, I have made two movies: EETTI and AYNGARAN. Now in 2026, after more than 20 years in the Tamil film industry, time has brought about a major move in my career. I have started a production company named "FIVE C's Films".
The statement further read that apart from producing his own directorial ventures, the banner will also "encourage upcoming young filmmakers". On what the banner will focus upon when it comes to films, the note read, "Creating highly entertaining and engaging content that will link well with the audience." The statement concluded with "We will soon announce the details of our Production#1."
Back in April, Ravi Arasu revealed that he will be making an exciting announcement of his next project on May 27. The filmmaker, who had worked on Vishal's 35th film Magudam, exited the project last year following creative differences with the actor. Later, Vishal himself stepped in to helm the actioner, marking his directorial debut. Ravi Arasu is now credited with the story for the film.
In 2020, it was announced that Ravi Arasy is directing a film with Shivarajkumar in the lead, titled RDX. However, details about the development of the film are scant, and the project hasn't materialised so far.
