Actor-director Basil Joseph has opened up about the nervousness and self-doubt that he experienced while playing a cameo in the Sudha Kongara-directed film Parasakthi, co-starring Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa. In a recent interview, Basil confessed that he was initially tense to play a Major in the film and wondered if the audience would accept him in such a role.

Speaking to Cineulagam, the actor said he was unsure whether he could convincingly perform his Army officer caracter. However, he revealed that his confidence gradually improved because of the trust Sudha Kongara placed in him. Basil shared that it is all about the conviction of the director, the actor, and the story situation. "I did it with full confidence,” he said.

The actor shared that getting into costume and undergoing grooming helped him feel more prepared for the character. “After the costume and grooming, I became confident,” Basil explained, noting that such preparation is crucial for actors to fully embody their roles.

He explained, “Whether someone is playing a hero, villain, psycho, terrorist, army officer, or even a college student, the actor must genuinely feel like the character for it to reflect naturally on screen.” Basil stressed that internalising the role is important for authentic performance.

Despite performing with full confidence, Basil admitted that he remained nervous after Parasakthi's release, saying the final judgement rests with the audience. He recalled when his friends called him on the release date and sent videos of the crowd cheering for his appearance in the film. He also revealed that the director appreciated his performance, which further reassured him.
