Karuppu, starring Suriya and featuring RJ Balaji as an actor and a director, has crossed 200 crore from theatres worldwide within seven days of its release. It has become the highest-grossing Suriya starrer in Kerala theatres as well. Meanwhile, the producer of the film, Dream Warrior Pictures announced that it will be screened with upgraded sound starting this Friday.

Taking to social media, the production banner wrote, "From 22 May onwards, Karuppu comes with a whole new theatre experience." According to the producer, the upgrades will make the dialogues feel sharper and will enhance the background music in theatres. "We've upgraded the sound to make every scene feel exactly the way it deserves," the makers wrote.

Earlier, we reported that an uncut version of the film would be screened in theatres in the UK starting this Friday. The audience in India, too, has been demanding the uncensored version of the film following the latest announcement regarding its sound enhancement.

Recently, the makers fixed some audio issues with the film following criticism from viewers. "Some mix issues are noted, corrected and upgraded from today evening shows across all theatres," actor-director RJ Balaji shared on May 17, Sunday.

Karuppu brings Suriya back together with Trisha for the first time after 2005's Aaru. The film also stars Indrans, Swasika, Sshivada, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi, among others.

While the sound enhancement has been done days after the film's release, the audio issues do not seem to have been having an effect on the audience's appreciation for the film's music. Sai Abhyankkar has been getting plenty of praise for his work in the film, especially for songs such as 'Verappa'.

Meanwhile, the team behind the film is set to celebrate its success with a tour across Tamil Nadu, known as the 'Blast Tour,' this weekend.
