Actor Jai, whose Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai has opened in theatres on Friday, was seen promoting the film across media platforms this past week. In almost all interviews, Vijay mentioned some anecdote or memory about actor-turned-chief minister Vijay, with whom he shared the screen in Bhagavathi.

Speaking to Galatta Plus, Jai said just years after Bhagavathi, his father predicted Vijay's political entry. He also opened up about Vijay's acts of benevolence over the years and why he thinks they were not politically calculated.

Speaking about his father's prediction, Jai said, "Just a few years after Bhagavathi, my father told me Vijay would enter politics with his father's, SA Chandrasekhar's, guidance. But gestures of Vijay anna weren't typical of a politician. He did a lot of good deeds, like helping schoolchildren and those suffering in hospitals. To me, that was not what a politician does."

On why Vijay's gestures were not political, he added, "Back then, he never did all of those things to sow the seed for his political career. He did that for the welfare of the people he helped. When someone does so much charity with their personal money, they will only do good things with the government's money as well. I've been believing this for 15 years now."

Interestingly, Jai was recently seen campaigning for Vijay's TVK before the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections on April 23. He was also seen hinting to the press at an IPL match that he would be casting his vote for the actor-turned-politician.

Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai also stars Meenakshi Govindharajan, Garuda Ram, Yogi Babu, Sathyan, Sriman, and Aditya Kathir. It has cinematography by Richard M Nathan, music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, editing by Darling Richardson, art direction by Kannan, and stunts by Murali G.
