Actor Jai, last seen in Baby and Baby, is gearing up for the release of Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai, slated for May 15. The film, helmed by debutant Babu Vijay, features the actor as a die-hard fan of actor-turned-chief minister Vijay.
Jai has previously shared the screen with Vijay in the former's debut film, Bhagavathy, in which he played the latter's younger brother. Ever since, Jai has always established that he is a great admirer of the Jana Nayagan actor. In a recent interview, Jai opened up about always watching Vijay's films more than once and why.
Speaking to Behindwoods, he said, “I’m a hundred per cent Vijay anna fan. One example of how big a fan I am is that I’ve watched Kuruvi at least 12 times. I usually watch Vijay anna's films with Venkat Prabhu anna. He found the film a little slow but was surprised to see how much I was enjoying it. Honestly, I’ve never watched a Vijay Anna film just once."
Jai then explained why he watches Vijay's films more than once. "Most people analyse the script and screenplay while reviewing a film. But when it comes to Vijay anna’s movies, I focus only on what he has done differently from his previous film – his body language, dialogue delivery, look, and the little nuances in his performance. And to observe all of that properly, I end up watching the film more than once."
Furthermore, Jai addressed comments about him expressing Vijay's body language. "I’m happy that some of my mannerisms reflect Anna's influence. At the same time, I consciously try not to let that show while acting in films. But no matter how much I try, somewhere, Vijay anna’s body language naturally comes through in me," he shared.
Interestingly, Jai was recently seen campaigning for Vijay's TVK before the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections on April 23. He was also seen hinting to the press at an IPL match that he would be casting his vote for the actor-turned-politician.
Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai also stars Meenakshi Govindharajan, Garuda Ram, Yogi Babu, Sathyan, Sriman, and Aditya Kathir. It has cinematography by Richard M Nathan, music by Girishh Gopalakrishnan, editing by Darling Richardson, art direction by Kannan, and stunts by Murali G.
