Kara box office: Dhanush starrer maintains steady collection on Day 8

Director Vignesh Raja's Kara continues to rake in decent numbers at the box office even a week after its release. According to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk, the Dhanush starrer earned 1.53 crore from theatres in India on Thursday, the eight day of its release. It has experienced a marginal drop in box office collection (from 1.58 to 1.53 crore) and the number of shows (from 3351 to 3300) from Wednesday to Thursday.

So far this Friday, the film has earned 11 lakh from theatres in India. This takes the Kara box office collection to 35.02 crore (gross) and 30.37 crore (net) in India.

Kara Story

Set in 1991, the film follows the events in Ramanathapuram, an area in coastal Tamil Nadu. When oil depots are the world burn their resources amidst the intense geopolitical conflict between Iraq and the USA, it affects the diesel and petrol supply in the coastal town as well. At this time, Karasamy (Dhanush) goes back to his violent ways of living, breaking his once solemn promise, to safeguard his community and guide them through the crisis. The film explores themes of loyalty, survival, and redemption.

Kara Cast and Crew

In addition to Dhanush, Kara stars Karunas, Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, MS Baskar, Jayaram, Sreeja Ravi, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Prithvi Pandiarajan, among others. The film's technicians include composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Theni Eswar, editor Sreejith Sarang, and art director Mayapandi.

The film, which marks Vignesh Raja's maiden collaboration with Dhanush, has received mostly mixed reviews from both viewers and critics alike. While audiences have found it an engaging film, critics opine that it does not quite fulfil its promise, because of its underwhelming climax.
