Vijay's Jana Nayagan has gone through a series of trials and tribulations ever since the year began. Starting from the censorship issue to the piracy, the film has become the most talked-about for all the wrong reasons. However, with Vijay setting a record with his historic win in the Tamil Nadu State Assembly elections, the film's fate seems to be rewritten.
Social media is already ablaze with reports that the film may be gearing up for release on May 28 or early in June. While the Central Board for Film Certification is yet to provide a censor certificate for the film, fans have already started celebrating the film's release and the lead actor-turned-politician.
The trailer of Jana Nayagan, which is now being played in theatres, carries title cards that read, 'Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay in Jana Nayagan. Let's celebrate in theatres soon.' As expected, this photo of the title card is being shared widely on social media, with audiences excitedly gearing up for the film to finally see the light of day.
Besides Vijay and Pooja, the upcoming film from director H Vinoth also stars Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Prakash Raj, and Narain, among others. The film was initially slated for a Pongal release and was postponed after the legal battle surrounding censorship.
Vijay secured 108 seats in the elections, with him winning both Trichy East and Perambur. The politician is likely to choose Perambur and resign from Trichy East, with a by-election due for the resigned seat. Meanwhile, Vijay needs 11 more seats to prove a majority and form the government. The Indian National Congress has agreed to form an alliance with TVK, giving them 5 more seats. He has, however, requested two weeks of time from the governor to prove majority.
