Ken Karunaas is gearing up for the Telugu release of Youth this Thursday, after the encouraging opening for the film's Tamil version. According to data from the box office tracker Sacnilk, the film has grossed around 25 crore from theatres over the first seven days of its release. It has also received positive reviews from critics.
Speaking about the film's Telugu release at a recent event, director-actor Ken spoke about the encouraging words he received from Suriya and Karthi. "I met Suriya sir and Karthi sir recently. I told them that the movie is getting released in Telugu on 26th. Then, they told me, 'You will receive the same amount of love from Telugu audiences as you did with Tamil. Because Telugu people believe in the content and support the film; they do not see the stardom.'"
Youth follows a teenager (Ken Karunaas) who is keen on finding true love as his school term is about to come to an end. In his search for it, he discovers the true meaning of love, which will have an influence on his worldview. The film also stars Anshima Anilkumar, Devadarshini, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Meenakshi Dinesh, among others.
The film marks Ken's directorial debut and his first lead role. Before its release, he was only known for his supporting roles in films, such as Vetri Maaran's Asuran, where he starred alongside Dhanush.
In our Youth movie review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "As we walk out of the theatres, we are given a chance to reminisce on our own school lives that were filled with random conversations, first brushes with love, issues that meant the world back then, and of course, heartbreaks."
