Selvaraghavan offers update on Pudhupettai 2

Selvaraghavan's Pudhupettai was released in 2006, and stars Dhanush in the lead

On the late hours of Thursday, multi-hyphenate creator Selvaraghavan, took to social media to give an update on the sequel to his 2006 film, Pudhupettai. The gangster drama stars Dhanush as Kokki Kumar, in his third collaboration with Selvaraghavan, his brother.

Writing through his X handle, Selvaraghavan shared, "Phew ! Finished writing pudhupettai 2." This is the first update from the director who revealed that he was working on Pudhupettai 2 along with writing for Aayirathil Oruvan 2, last year.

Pudhupettai (2006) chronicled the rise of a school student, Kokki Kumar, into a ruthless gangster and later a politician. The film wasn't received well initially, but later found postive acclaim from audiences.

The film also stars Sonia Agarwal, Sneha, Bala Singh, Azhagam Perumal, Nithish Veera, Munnar Ramesh, Prudhvi Raj, and Thennavan, among others. Pudhupettai was also one of Vijay Sethupathi's earliest roles. The actor played the role of Kumar's henchman.

Yuvan Shankar Raja composed music for the film. HIs work on the background music on the film, and numbers from the soundtrack like, 'Enga Yeriya', 'Variya', and 'Oru Naalil' became chartbusters.
