After multiple postponements, Vignesh Shivan's Love Insurance Kompany, starring Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, is expected to finally see the light of the day. The Naanum Rowdy Dhaan director hinted at the sci-fi romantic drama hitting theatres on April 3, on the occasion of Good Friday on his latest Instagram story. "April 3rd. Everyone in cinema says one Friday can change everything! Is this going to be that Good a Friday!?," he wrote. While he did not make an official announcement, fans are highly anticipating the film to release during the weekend after a long delay.
For the unversed, the film was originally scheduled to hit screens on September 18 last year. However, the makers then chose to push the release to October 17 for Deepavali. Ahead of its scheduled date, the makers decided to push the release once again as Dude, Pradeep's film with Keerthiswaran was also scheduled to hit theatres on the same day. "Despite our best efforts to coordinate with Mythri Movies, we couldn't find common ground and we believe it's wiser to let both films shine without overlap," the makers said, while noting that LIK would be released on December 18. But the film was postponed once again. It was later speculated to be released on or during the Valentine's day window, but it was not make it at the time.
The film has generated excitement among fans as it features Pradeep Ranganathan, whose all three films Love Today (2022), Dragon (2025) and his most recent Dude (2025) have emerged as blockbusters at the box office, grossing over Rs 100 crore worldwide. LIK is set in 2040 in a futuristic world with Pradeep's character playing a man who still believes in love at first sight and pure love in a world where relationships have become even more casual and complicated. He falls in love with Krithi Shetty's character. But troubles arise in the form of SJ Suryah, the owner of the titular company, which seems to prohibit two individuals from pursuing a genuine love relationship.
LIK also stars Yogi Babu, Gouri Kishan, Seeman, Shah Ra, Mysskin, Anandraj, and Sunil Reddy, among others. It is backed by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, as well as SS Lalit Kumar's Seven Screen Studio.
On the technical front, the film has music composed by Anirudh, cinematography handled by Ravi Varman and Sathyan Sooryan, and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
