Actor Parthiban has released a video through his YouTube channel, issuing an apology for comments he made towards actor Trisha, during a recent event. This comes hours after Trisha herself took to social media to tweet out a reply to Parthiban's comments.

In the video, Parthiban said, "Sometimes, certain errors happen unintentionally. In a recent event, when questions where asked in a rapid fire round, I answered without any thought. When Trisha's photo came on screen, I did not know what to say, but the audience were shouting, 'Kundhavai' (Trisha's character from the Ponniyin Selvan films), again and again. In an effort to play with words I answered, 'Kundhavai-yai veetileye kundhavaikavum, prechanai varamal irruka' (Let Kundhavai sit at home, so that problems don't arise). The audience, full of Vijay fans, then applauded with rigour."

He added, "After I left the stage, a friend, told me that the comment could have been avoided. I immediately requested the organisers to not include that segment withing the event's broadcast. But due to someone recording and releasing a video, I understand the distress that it has caused and would like to confess the distress it caused. I don't believe in making problems bigger. Whenever I visit colleges, I speak about the freedom of a woman. I believe that, whether it is a man or a woman, any person should be able to get free of unnecessary restrictions and be able to get a divorce, and live life happily. Hence, I believe that a woman is the biggest force in the universe, with creative powers."

The apology video also ends with an AI generated video of a rooster who wakes up to find out that the hen has woken up before him to do his job. A final quote from the director reads, "Em-power women (my power women). Empower Women!"

Parthiban's comments against Trisha comes in the wake of social media being flooded with speculation that Trisha is in a relationship with actor-politician Vijay, after the two of them were spotted together recently at a wedding.

A petition filed by Vijay's wife Sankgeetha, mentions that Vijay has had an extra marital affair with an unnamed actress. But social media users have largely speculated that Trisha is the actress mentioned, leading to the rise of multiple negative comments.
