Actor Sara Arjun has been the talk of town since she was cast in Ranveer Singh's latest spy action thriller Dhurandhar. However, long before this global fame, the actor debuted as a child star in director Vijay's emotional drama Deiva Thirumagal (2011) as Vikram's child. Now the filmmaker has reflected on her evolution as an actor in a recent interview.

Sharing his pride and happiness upon seeing Sara's rise to fame, Vijay said, "She is like my own daughter. More than her parents, she has spent more time with me as she would come home for over a month following her exams. I am extremely happy that my child has become such a big star. She is a disciplined child. When the Dhurandhar team speaks about Sara, I am always brimming with pride. She calls me mama, but she is in fact, my own daughter."

For the unversed, Sara had also played a key role in Vijay's 2014 critically-acclaimed drama Saivam.

In Dhurandhar, the actor played Yalina Jamali, the daughter of a Pakistani politician who marries Hamza (Ranveer Singh). Aditya Dhar directed the film which went on to become a massive blockbuster globally, earning over Rs 1000 crore in revenue. A second part titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19.

Vijay recently directed Kadhal Reset Repeat which stars Arjun Ashokan, Madumkesh and Jiya Shankar in lead roles. The film, which hits theatres on Friday, follows Jiya's character, who develops anterograde amnesia after a major accident, leaving her unable to retain memories beyond 24 hours. MS Bhaskar, Jayaprakash, and Viji Chandrashekar also play key roles.

Following Kadhal Reset Repeat, the director will be focusing on completing the documentation of Ajith Kumar's life on the racing track as a feature-length film. It is set to explore his passion for sport and his achievements in the field.
