The casting for Heer Ranjha, the upcoming film by Laila Majnu filmmaker Sajid Ali, has been a subject of many speculations. While the makers officially announced the project a few weeks ago with a teaser, they did not reveal the faces or names of their film’s lead. Recently, reports had been doing rounds of makers strongly considering Dhurandhar actor Sara Arjun for the female lead.
However, Ekta Kapoor in one of her recent social media posts decided to put a rest to all the rumours. Sharing screenshot of an online news report that claimed Sara Arjun had been locked for Heer Ranjha, Ekta Kapoor wrote in caption, “Need great scriptwriters in fiction. Wanna join? You all write great fiction.”
Ekta, however, did not clarify whether her post referred only to rumours about Sara Arjun’s casting, or also about Rohit Saraf who is reportedly locked for the main lead's role. Rohit previously worked with Sajid Ali in the much-delayed film Wo Bhi Din The (2024), which released after being stuck in the cans for nearly 10 years.
Heer Ranjha is written by Imtiaz Ali, who is also on board as the presenter. Ekta is co-producing the film in collaboration with Shobhaa Kapoor and Preety Ali.
