GV Prakash's upcoming film Happy Raj with debutant Maria Raja Elanchezhian has finalised a release date. The music composer-cum-actor shared that the entertainer will be released in theatres on March 27. While Sri Gouri Priya plays the female lead, Abbas and George Maryan also play prominent roles in the film.
As reported earlier, Abbas is making his comeback in the Tamil film industry after a long sabbatical with this film.
The director, who has previously worked as an assistant to Pradeep Ranganathan, said the film will be a "fun-filled entertainer" in a recent interview with Cinema Express. "Happy Raj is not just about their wedding. Some incidents occur before and after the wedding," he said, sharing that the Love Today director's advice on creating an entertainer film instead of a serious one, pushed him to make Happy Raj. "He pointed out that my strength lies in my comical one-liners and that my contribution helped the jokes land in Love Today. That was how I conceptualised the film," he added.
The film also stars Prarthna, Geetha Kailasam, Madurai Muthu, Adhirchi Arun, and Devi Mahesh, among others.
Produced by Jayavardhanan and co-produced by Jaikanth Suresh, the film will have music by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Madhan Christopher, editing by Selva RK and art direction by Kumar Gangappan. A release date for Happy Raj is yet to be announced by the makers.
