Announced in August last year, Carmeni Selvam, starring Samuthirakani and Gautham Vasudev Menon, the makers have dropped the release update. Accordingly, the film will release in theatres on April 3, in Tamil and Telugu.

With Samuthirakani playing the titular character, the film also stars  Lakshmi Priya, Abhinaya, Karthik Kumar, Badava Gopi, Madhumitha, Arjunan, Sankara Narayan V, Haritha Parakod, Kothandam, and Karan Chakravarthi.

Carmeni Selvam's director, Ram Chakri, said that the film will revolve around Selvam, who has been living a peaceful life, and starts developing a greed for money. What happens after this is what the film is about.

Carmeni Selvam is produced by Arun Rangarajulu, with Sree Saravanan as a creative producer. Pathway Productions is the banner backing the film. In a first, music for the film is composed by Musicloud Studio and Technologies company. The rest of the technical crew for the film includes Yuvraj Dakshan as the director of photography, Jagan RV and Dinesh S as the editors, and Shankar as the production designer.
