Two days after legendary filmmaker K Bhagyaraj's death, grief continues to remain among the Tamil cinema fraternity and audiences. Amidst this sorrow-filled time, Shanthnu has shared his first emotional video, expressing his love for his father on social media.

Posting a video from Bhagyaraj's celebration for his 50 years in cinema, Shanthnu was seen saying, "If possible, I wish I could give ten years of my life to my father so that for another decade or more, he could make more films and stories to the audiences. As a fan and as a learner, I want to watch them and take in the knowledge." He captioned the video saying, "Only if I could..." with sad and heartbreak emojis.

As soon as he posted the video, messages from his friends and family members, and also Bhagyaraj's fans flooded the comments section where they extended their support to Shanthnu, asking him to "stay strong" amidst these difficult times.

Director K Bhagyaraj passed away on Saturday at the age of 73 after suffering from a cardiac arrest, leaving behind a five-decade-long legacy filled with memorable hits like Suvarilladha Chiththirangal (1979), Oru Kai Osai (1980), Mouna Geethangal (1981), Andha 7 Naatkal (1981), Darling, Darling, Darling (1982), Mundhanai Mudichu (1983), Dhavani Kanavugal (1984), Chinna Veedu (1985), Enga Chinna Rasa (1987), and Avasara Police 100 (1990). Hundreds of people, including industry veterans and family members thronged Bhagyaraj's residence on Saturday and Sunday to pay their final respects to the veteran.

His eyes were donated after medical professionals visited his house to collect his organ. The family has made the move in alignment with a pledge from the filmmaker years ago. His funeral was conducted with full State honours following CM Vijay's orders on Sunday.

For the unversed, Shanthnu first appeared as a child artist in his father's Vettiya Madichu Kattu (1998), before making his debut as the lead in Sakkarakatti (2008). He also starred in his father's directorial Siddhu +2 (2010).
