Earlier this Sunday, the funeral of the late K Bhagyaraj was held with state honours. Subsequent to the passing of the filmmaker, the convergence of the media at his residence for celebrities' response to the event has sparked much discourse about media invasion and privacy for the grieving family.
Recently, Radikaa Sarathkumar pleaded to the media not to cause privacy invasion at the filmmaker's residence. "If you want drama for the sake of TRP ratings, I will deliver that through films. Here, give us some privacy, please," said the actor, who starred in multiple K Bhagyaraj films, most notably 1981's Indru Poyi Naalai Vaa.
In the latest incident, actor Suhasini Maniratnam dealt with invasive media in an aggressive manner. In a video from the K Bhagyaraj funeral function, Suhasini can be seen shoving media personnel who attempted to capture the event. At one point, Suhasini can also be heard saying, "I will give you a tight slap with a slipper."
Earlier, Suhasini spoke about the sudden passing of the filmmaker-actor-writer. The actor said that she attended the wedding of Khushbu Sundar and Sundar C's daughter, Avantika, shortly before his passing. Suhasini said that the filmmaker left the event with much happiness before adding that he complained of chest pain after a morning walk on Saturday and was immediately taken to a hospital. "Let us pay our final respects to Bhagyaraj sir," Suhasini said to the media.
The filmmaker's passing comes a matter of days after the death of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja, who is also known for his performances in Tamil cinema. Notably, he started his career as an assistant to Bharathiraja in the film 16 Vayathinile.
