Are Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Dhanush's Om swapping release dates?

While Rajinikanth has now shifted his focus to Dharman, his Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson, is yet to finalise a release date. Initially scheduled for June 12, the film was postponed as the cameo and other reshoots were not completed. After July and August were speculated, recently, reports suggested September to be the final release month.

However, it looks like the Jailer sequel is aiming for a festival release. Meanwhile, Dhanush's Om, helmed by Rajkumar Periasamy, has been scheduled to open in theatres on October 16, marking the Navaratri festival.

As per a report by Valaipechu, the makers of Jailer 2 are now thinking of bringing their films to the big screen for the Navratri festival in October. For this reason, they've also reportedly approached the makers of Om to push their release to Diwali, which falls on November 8. If the change happens, Om will be scheduled for release on either November 5 or 6. However, the makers are yet to confirm the same.

Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, Hrithik Roshan recently wrapped shooting for his cameo portions in Jailer 2 along with Rajinikanth. He joins cast members Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Vinayakan, and other actors in special appearances like Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar. New names added to the ensemble this time around include Jatin Sarna, Mithun Chakraborty, Santhanam, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi, Meghana Raj Sarja and Anna Rajan. There is also buzz about the appearance of Nora Fatehi in a dance number. The film is backed by Sun Pictures.

On the other hand, Om also stars Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi, Mammootty, and Indrans in prominent roles. Om is the 55th film in Dhanush's career and the actor's first collaboration with Rajkumar Periasamy. The film is produced by Dhanush himself under the Wunderbar Films banner and Shraddha Agrawal of R Take Studios.
