AR Rahman receives Academy of Achievement's award; celebrities wish him

The Golden Plate Award is among the highest honours of the American Academy of Achievement

Earlier this Thursday, AR Rahman revealed that he has been conferred with an Academy of Achievement award. The legendary composer shared a photograph where he can be seen receiving the award from The Lord of The Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson. More specifically, he has been presented with the Golden Plate Award at the 56th Annual International Achievement Summit.

"I am truly humbled to receive this honour. It wouldn’t have been possible without the people of India, the inspiration I’ve drawn from the country, the directors and creative partners I’ve had the privilege of working with, and the fans who have supported me throughout the years and inspired me to keep pushing myself. This recognition is deeply meaningful to me. It’s not just an honour, it’s also a reminder to strive for more and keep growing. I’m humbled and proud to represent India in this way," Rahman shared.

The Golden Plate Award is among the highest honours of the American Academy of Achievement, and it recognises extraordinary people whose achievements with profound impacts across fields who have inspired generations worldwide.

Previous recipients of the award include distinguished figures from the worlds of literature, arts, public life, and cinema, such as Haruki Murakami, Dame Julie Andrews, Maya Angelou, Francis Ford Coppola, Chuck Jones, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael J. Fox, Samuel L Jackson, and Andre Agassi.

Many celebrities have wished AR Rahman on the achievement. Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur wrote, "Congratulations Rahman! That's a stunning recognition given to only the few." Rahman is set to reunite with Shekhar Kapur for Masoom: The New Generation.

On the other hand, Priyanka Chopra congratulated Rahman with clapping hands, fire, and love emoticons. Meanwhile, filmmaker Bharat Bala wrote, "Keep the fire burning. Congratulations my dearest nanba (friend)."
