Arivumathi (Vetri) is a prisoner holding a mysterious, yet haunting past in his life in the first teaser of Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku. Directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, the upcoming film promises to be a gripping crime drama and an intense account of a jail inmate's personal life.

The short two minute glimpse unveiled on Tuesday shows Vetri inside a prison in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore sharing his thoughts on 'fate' and how he doesn't believe in the concept. Arivu feels one can write their own fate and it is the reason why he is currently inside a jail. He shares his life with Brigida Saga who plays Mallika. But a fateful decision of killing someone ends his life's dreams by putting him in jail. He is later seen asking for a help from a jailer named Sivanandham (Rangaraj Pandey). While he is willing to help, Sivanandham is taking no chances to aid him in any way if he has intentions to escape the jail. However, on one day, he does escape to meet his family. Towards the end of the teaser, we see Sivanandham aiming his gun at Arivu.

Besides the lead cast, the film also features Saravanan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Lizzie Antony, Subramaniam Siva, Logan Kannan, Narmadha, Aruvi Madhan, Kanya Bharathy, Suba Veerapandian and Kavitha Bharathy, among others.

The film is backed by KV Shabarreesh under the 2m Cinemas banner, alongside the film's director, Dayal Padmanabhan, who co-produces under his home banner, D Pictures. The filmmaker, who has won two Karnataka State Film Awards, made his Tamil debut with Kondraal Paavam in 2023 and followed it up with Maruthi Nagar Police Station.

Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku will have MV Panneerselvam cranking the camera, Darbuka Siva composing music and Anbu heading the production design. With the film currently in post-production, a tentative release date is yet to be announced by the makers.

The film is slated to release in theaters on June 25.
