Actor Dhanush has taken his time out to catch director Meera Kathiravan's latest film Habeebi and reviewed it with words of praise on his X handle. The film stars the actor's father Kasthuri Raja in a key role.
He called the film an "exceptional cinematic experience" and said he was "proud" of his father's performance. "I feel proud thinking of my father, who must have fully immersed himself and lived as the character Yusuf in an entirely new world he had never known before," he wrote.
Dhanush further congratulated director Meera Kathiravan and the entire film crew for delivering "outstanding performances".
Earlier, ace cinematographer PC Sreeram also praised the film, calling it a "wonderful attempt." "You can make such a film in Tamil without any concerns, because audiences here welcome all good films. Therefore, I think they will welcome this film too," he wrote.
Set in a Tamil-speaking Muslim household in southern Tamil Nadu, Habeebi tells a timeless romance story that spans three different time periods, from the 1980s to this decade. The film explores how the forced migration of handloom weavers seeking work overseas reshaped families.
Besides Kasthuri Raja, the film, which released in theatres last week, also stars Esha, Malavika Manoj, Dhanasree Sudhakaran and others.
