Earlier this Thursday, producer Sagar Pentela of Rise East Entertainment announced a film starring Vijay Sethupathi and directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi. The yet-untitled project brings Rise East Entertainment and Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi back together after their collaboration on the 2022 web series Paper Rocket. The film is also produced by IVY Entertainment. The announcement comes hot on the heels of speculation about the collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker.

Sharing his excitement for the project, Sagar Pentela described it as a "special film starring the phenomenal Vijay Sethupathi". It marks the first collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and Kiruthiga, who is known for titles such as Vanakkam Chennai, Kaali, and Kadhalikka Neramillai.

On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, music by OfRo, and art direction by Selvakumar.

"This promises to be an unforgettable cinematic journey," Sagar Pentela added. Echoing the producer's sentiment for the film, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi wrote, "Equally excited to work with you and this awesome cast and crew."

Sources close to the project have informed CE that production on it is set to start in Pondicherry next week. The makers are yet to reveal any other details about it, including those pertaining to its genre, story, and additional cast. According to online buzz, it is believed to be among the most expensive projects in Vijay Sethupathi's career.

The actor was most recently seen in the JioHostar series Muthu Engira Kaattaan. He has multiple projects at various stages of production, including the long-delayed Train with director Mysskin, Jailer 2 with filmmaker Nelson and Rajinikanth, Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road with director Puri Jagannadh, and Arasan with Vetri Maaran. On the other hand, this is Kiruthiga's first project to be announced after last year's Kadhalikka Neramillai.
