Recently, we reported about Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth coming back together for a film for the first time after 1981's Thillu Mullu. To be directed by Nelson, the film is expected to begin production soon. Meanwhile, the Superstar's wife and singer, Latha Rajinikanth spoke about the upcoming project.
In a recent conversation with NDTV, Latha described the film as "a great moment" for not just the industry but also "the great lives" led by the two actors, as well as "the examples that they have been". Noting that Kamal and Rajinikanth have been "great as friends and colleagues," Latha added that the upcoming film will make the late filmmaker K Balachander proud. Notably, Balachander's 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal not only marked Rajinikanth's debut, but it also proved a breakthrough for Kamal after multiple roles as a child actor and later as a lead across languages.
"It will be a proud moment for the person who launched them, K Balachander sir, and all the people who travelled have through their lives, Panchu (Arunachalam) sir, and who have seen them from the beginning till now," Latha Rajinikanth said about the film, tentatively titled KH x RK. She added, "It is going to be a great moment to remember."
When asked whether she has any piece of advice for Rajinikanth ahead of the film, Latha shrugged it off. She said, "I am no one to give him tips, because he has already been a superstar when I came into his life." The singer added that she takes pleasure in watching the Superstar perform, just like any other fan would.
Latha also expressed that while she would like for Rajinikanth to have some rest after wrapping Jailer 2 and before starting the film with Kamal, he cannot "take the break" as both projects come back-to-back. "We just want him to be happy, energetic, and just give what the fans want from him," she said.
Interestingly, Kamal Haasan, too, expressed his plan to wrap the film with director duo Anbarivu before starting KH x RK.
