Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan continued its dream run at the box office on its first Saturday, registering a strong jump after its Friday dip. The H Vinoth directorial has now crossed the Rs 170 crore mark worldwide in just three days and is on course to enter the Rs ₹100 crore India net club on its first Sunday.
According to the latest trade estimates on Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan collected Rs 28.50 crore net and Rs 33.34 crore gross in India on Day 3 (Saturday) across 12,299 shows, recording an overall occupancy of 38.7 per cent. This marks a 34.7 per cent jump over Friday's Rs 21.15 crore net, signalling a strong weekend recovery.
The film's cumulative India net collection now stands at Rs 92.35 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 108.34 crore. Overseas, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 63.50 crore, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 171.84 crore after just three days.
Tamil Nadu remains the film's biggest market by a considerable margin, contributing Rs 61 crore of the India gross, followed by Karnataka with Rs 19.22 crore, Kerala with Rs 10 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with Rs 8.34 crore, and the rest of India with Rs 9.78 crore.
Released on Thursday, Jana Nayagan opened to a massive Rs 42.70 crore net in India before witnessing the expected drop to Rs 21.15 crore on Friday. Saturday's strong rebound suggests that audience demand remains robust, setting the stage for an even bigger Sunday. If the momentum continues, the film is expected to comfortably cross the Rs 100 crore India net milestone on its fourth day.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's final film before his full-fledged entry into politics, making it one of the most anticipated Tamil releases in recent years. The political action drama stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, alongside Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in pivotal roles. The film features music by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by KVN Productions.
With a worldwide gross of nearly Rs 172 crore in just three days and a strong weekend trajectory, Jana Nayagan is well on track to emerge as one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year.
