For the first time in the history of Tamil cinema, a sitting chief minister's swansong has opened in theatres. Tamil Nadu has been known to celebrate its heroes with milk anointment over cutouts and firecrackers burst outside theatres. Given that Jana Nayagan marks actor-turned-chief minister Vijay's final film, the frenzy is at an all-time high.

While first shows in Tamil Nadu have begun only at 9 am, some fans have travelled all the way to Bengaluru to catch the film at an earlier time. Social media is flooded with phone-captured videos of Vijay's dance to 'Thalapathy Katcheri', while some others have penned lengthy reviews about their experience watching the star on the big screen for one last time.

Of the lot, one X user has written about the portions of the film that have been taken from Nandamuri Balakrishna's Bhagavanth Kesari. For the unversed, H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan is an adaptation of Bhagavanth Kesari. However, the X user has explained that the film has a lot of original ideas which have not come from the Anil Ravipudi directorial.

The user wrote, "#JanaNayagan - Apart from a few scenes involving Mamitha Baiju which are taken from Bhagavanth Kesari, the 2nd half was a unique one, made of H Vinoth's writing & screenplay. Especially that 45-min flashback was completely H Vinoth's story, involving full political elements, made for Thalapathy Vijay."

It is still unclear how much of the film has been taken from Bhagavanth Kesari, but from this X user's review, there is a lot of originality in the film. Apart from Vijay and Mamitha Baiju, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Nassar, and Sunil, among others.
