Suriya's Mounam Pesiyadhe to be re-released in theatres after 24 years

Released in 2002, Mounam Pesiyadhe was written and directed by Ameer in his directorial debut

After 24 long years, Suriya's much-acclaimed romantic drama Mounam Pesiyadhe will be available to watch on the big screens once again. While a release date hasn't been announced, fans are anticipating a February release during Valentine's Day.

Released in 2002, Mounam Pesiyadhe was written and directed by Ameer in his directorial debut. It also marked Trisha's debut as a lead actor, and was also one of the early projects led by Suriya to have music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Nandaa and Neha Pendse were also newcomers in the film. Laila appeared in a cameo role.

The film centred on the story of a stoic man and is tryst with love. The film also featured actor Vidharth in one of his early film appearances. Mounam Pesiyadhe was a critically and commercially successful venture at the box office, with Yuvan's music winning massive praise. Songs from the film continue to enjoy enduring popularity among audiences even today.

Suriya and Trisha later went on to star together in films like Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004), and Aaru (2005). After 21 years, they will once again be seen together in RJ Balaji's much-anticipated film Karuppu which is awaiting a release date.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed for movies led by Suriya like Perazhagan (2004), Massu Engira Masilamani (2015), Anjaan (2014), and NGK (2019).
