Despite mixed reviews, director Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi continues its successful run at the global box office as the film enters the seventh day of its release. According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, the film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan in the lead roles, earned a net collection of 35.85 crore from theatres in India in the first six days. The collection jumped from 2.55 crore on Wednesday to an estimated 5.10 crore on Pongal Day. After a bumper start, which saw the film earn 12.5 crore and 10.1 crore on the first two days, it has nosedived over the next few days before having the Pongal uptick. When it comes to the global box office, the film earned 57.45 crore from theatres over the first five days, according to Sacnilk data.

The Sudha Kongara directorial tells the story of a youngster who forms support for a revolution against Hindi imposition in Tamil Nadu. It also stars Sreeleela, Atharvaa, Chetan, and Rana Daggubati, among others.

Produced by Aakash Baskaran of Dawn Pictures, Parasakthi has been facing some flak following director Sudha Kongara's recent comments about Vijay fans. In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, the filmmaker said that she has experienced "slander and defamation of the worst kind" from internet users operating from fake IDs. The director stated that she is aware of where these comments come from and mentioned one such message, hinting that its source is a Vijay admirer.

The comments have not gone down well with the fanbase and even other netizens, who claim that they are Sudha Kongara's strategy to divert attention away from the film's lack of quality. Some of the hatred also stems from the fact that some of the actors in the film attended a function celebrating Pongal in Delhi that featured Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief guest.
