Vaa Vaathiyaar road to release hasn't been a smooth one. The film's release was put on hold due to legal troubles faced by the producers. But the Karthi-starrer is finally set to release on January 14.

At the pre-release event of the Nalan Kumaraswamy directorial, Karthi said, "We wanted to release the film last year, with great fanfare. But that didn't happen due to obstacles. That happened with my first film too, which released only after moving past many obstacles. Obstacles aren't new to me and I have gotten used to this."

The actor also thanked his elder brother, actor Suriya, for his support during the film's legal troubles.

Vaa Vaathiyaar is Nalan's first release after a decade. His previous feature film was Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016), which starred Vijay Sethupathy and Madonna Sebastian.

Santhosh Narayanan is composing music for the film, which also stars  Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Madhur Mittal, among others.
