Director Sudha Kongara is only excited about her film Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, releasing at the same time as Vijay-H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan. Speaking to Galatta Plus, the filmmaker said that she is a massive admirer of Vijay and that he is "the biggest star in the country". Therefore, she argued that his film would make money at the box office even if Parasakthi also ends up having a good theatrical run. The filmmaker reminisced about a conversation she had with her Drohi film's cinematographer Alphonse Roy as well. "The other day, Alphonse messaged me saying from being a hardcore Vijay to releasing along with him. What a journey!" Sudha Kongara said. The filmmaker added that she only looks at the discourse around the simultaneous release of Parasakthi and Jana Nayagan only from that perspective.

The director said that she would watch Vijay's final film on the first show of release day in any case. Speaking of which, Jana Nayagan's release has been postponed from January 09 to a hitherto-undisclosed date following hassles with the film's censorship. Even Parasakthi is awaiting censorship clearance, with reports claiming that the Censor Board has recommended 23 cuts to it, including to those scenes depicting protests against Hindi imposition. Nevertheless, the film's producer, Aakash Baskaran's Dawn Pictures, remains positive about its January 10 release, as evident in the pre-release promotional posts. The film marks Sudha Kongara's first full-length film with an original screenplay after 2020's Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya.
