The politics surrounding the traditional sport of goat fighting is teased in the teaser for Jockey, which was unveiled by the makers on Saturday. The film is helmed by filmmaker Dr Pragabhal, who made his debut with the film Muddy. He has reunited with the leads of his first film, Yuvan Krishna and Ridhaan Krishnas.

The teaser for Jockey features Yuvan Krishna as a leading goat fight player, who is on a winning streak. However, when politics play a part, chaos ensues, endangering the lives of the animal participants as well.

In a previous interview with CE, Dr Pragabhal said he conducted in-depth research about the sport and its cultural connectivity to Madurai and Tamil heritage. "I began documenting and researching this tradition in depth, even staying in Madurai since 2022 to write the story. For the film to be authentic, I knew the actors had to build a real bond with the goats. So, we purchased goats, trained with them, fed them, lived with them, and created a genuine connection."

Jockey also stars Ammu Abhirami as the female lead and Madhu Sudhan Rao in a pivotal role. Jockey's technical crew comprises cinematographer Udhayakumar, editor Srikanth, composer Sakthi Balaji, art director C Udhayakumar, and stunt choreographer Prabhu Jacky. A release date for the film is yet to be announced by the makers.
