After introducing Richard Rishi as Veera Simha Kadavarayan, the makers of Draupathi 2  have now announced the key antagonist in the film. Actor Chirag Jani, known for his roles in Kaappaan, Thunivu and Agilan, is all set to play Mohammad Bin Tughlaq in the upcoming period film. An intense first look poster was also released by the makers where the actor was seen in a battlefield, wielding a sword and awaiting his nemesis.

As previously announced, Rakshana Induchoodan plays the female lead in the sequel as Draupathi Devi. Natty, YG Mahendran, Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vela Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan also play key roles in the film.

Although titled after the director's 2020 film Draupathi, the latest feature is a historical drama set in the 14th century in South India and bears no resemblance to the earlier film. In a recent post, Mohan G said that the film will narrate a "story that has never been told before" and will "portray the dark chapter of history" from that era.

Draupathi 2 marks the third collaboration between Richard Rishi and Mohan G, after Draupathi and Rudra Thandavam (2023). The film’s shoot wrapped up in September after an extensive production schedule that began in Mumbai and concluded in Ariyallur.

Draupathi 2 has been written by Mohan G and Padma Chandrasekhar. The film’s technical crew includes music composer Ghibran Vaibodha, cinematographer Philip R Sundar, editor Devaraj, art director Kamalnathan, choreographer Thanika Tony, and stunt coordinator Action Santosh.

The film has cleared censorship formalities with a U/A certificate. While the filmmaker had recently reposted an X post claiming that the film will hit theatres on January 23, Mohan G and the film's makers are yet to officially announced the release date.
