Earlier this Thursday, actor R Sarathkumar took to social media to share a poster giving what he claims "a first look" at his character in his upcoming film Aazhi. In the caption, he wrote, "A cinematic wave rising from the depths of the ocean." The poster features Sarathkumar's character on a partially damaged, seemingly sinking boat, alongside a dog. Even as the dog looks on with fear in its eyes, Sarathkumar's character appears determined and resilient. The film is written and directed by Madhav Ramadasan, as well as produced by Sajit Krishnan. Madhav Ramadasan is best known for his debut film Melvilasom, a courtroom drama, starring Suresh Gopi and Parthiban, among others. Judging by the hashtags in the latest post, Aazhi also stars Devika Satheesh, Indrajith Jagan, Thamarai Selvi, Vaiyapuri, and Sreejith Ravi.
On the technical front, the film has music by Jassie Gift, sound design by Academy Award winner Resul Pookutty, cinematography by Anand N Nair, and editing by K Sreenivas. Uthraa Productions has the rights to distribute the film in Tamil Nadu.
The film has been in development for a long time now. It was first announced in 2022. Later that October, the makers dropped an image, claiming it as the first-look poster. Reportedly, the film's plot revolves around drug trade through the ocean.
According to reports, production on the film has also been wrapped. Now that Sarathkumar has announced details about its distributor, audiences can expect its release in the near future.
Sarathkumar was last seen in Kombuseevi, opposite Shanmuga Pandian. The actor's upcoming films include but is not limited to Operation Raahat with Major Ravi.
