Recently, we reported about Urvashi getting recognised at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for her performance in 2017's Magalir Mattum. The other day, the actor collected the award from Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin at a function.

Speaking to Asianet News, the actor said she has been multiple recipients of the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, including in the categories such as Best Character Artist, Best Actress, and Best Special Life Achievement. "I wondered how they would give me a state award again. I wished the most to get a state award for Best Comedy. I have done comedy in countless films. Isn't it a big deal to get recognised for it? The toughest task to perform is comedy," the actor said.

The actor also shared that she wondered what the award would be for Magalir Mattum when she first heard that it has been recognised by the state. Calling it a female-oriented film, the actor said that she felt delighted to hear that her performance in it has been recognised.

"This award is sweet even though it has taken its time coming," she added. The actor has also received plenty of critical appreciation for her performance in the 2017 film. In our Magalir Mattum movie review from back in the day, Sudhir Srinivasan wrote, "Urvashi is in top form" and that she "is a riot as Komes" in the film.

The actor added that she is equally attached to both Tamil and Malayalam cinema, citing that both industries are like her "two eyes". She added that it is tough to judge comedy and that it is deemed good only if it appeals to everyone. "It must not hurt anyone's sentiments, must not be too political, and must not have slur words. Therefore, female actors have certain limitations while doing comedy," Urvashi shared.

Recently, Urvashi also won the National Film Award for her performance in Ullozhukku.
