Writer-director Raju Murugan's film My Lord, starring M Sasikumar and Chaithra Achar in the lead roles, hit theatres on Friday. The film opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences. The latest to show his appreciation for the film is actor Suriya.

A few hours ago, Sasikumar shared on social media a video post where Suriya can be seen embracing, giving bouquets to and interacting with the cast and crew of the film. "A special moment for the team My Lord. Actor Suriya met the cast and crew and appreciated their work. Truly a proud and memorable recognition for the whole team," reads the caption for the post.

Jayanthi Ambethkumar produced the film, marking writer-director Raju Murugan's comeback after 2023's Japan. While Japan, starring Karthi, failed to perform well critically and commercially, Raju has tasted success before, notably with 2016's Joker, which is considered 'a sleeper hit' and won the Best Tamil Film at the National Film Awards.

My Lord brings the writer-director back together with his Joker star Guru Somasundaram. The film also stars Asha Sharath, Jayaprakash, Vasumithra, and Gopi Nainar. Composer Sean Roldan has been getting much appreciation for his work on the film. Its technical team also includes editor Sathyaraj Natarajan and cinematographer Nirav Shah.

In our My Lord movie review, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Raju Murugan treats the film with levity that reminds us of his very own Joker. Just like that National Award-winning film, here too, even when laughing at the predicament of Muthuchirpi and the people surrounding him, not once are we allowed to forget that we are having front-row seats to public and systemic apathy."

The positive appreciation from critics is yet to translate into concrete numbers at the box office, though. According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, it has gained a net collection of 62 lakh from theatres in India so far.
