Love is in the air with Valentine's Day around the corner, and the Tamil film industry is celebrating the occasion with the re-release of several classic romantic films from the late '90s to early 2000s. After Minnale and Mounam Pesiyadhe, Kadhalar Dhinam, late actor Kunal and Sonali Bendre's classic 1999 film will have a re-release after 27 years. The makers of the romantic movie released a new poster, announcing that the film will hit theatres on February 14.

Directed by Kathir and produced by AM Rathnam of Sri Surya Movies, Kadhalar Dhinam marked Sonali Bendre's Tamil debut. It also starred Nassar, Manivannan, Goundamani and Chinni Jayanth in key roles.

Kadhalar Dhinam follows Raja (Kunal) and Roja (Sonali Bendre) who fall in love with each other while talking to each other on the internet, but Raja has second thoughts after discovering that Roja is from an affluent household and also the college chairman's daughter. The film was a massive success at the box office and has since then been a favourite for film enthusiasts, with songs by AR Rahman continuing to remain memorable and a nostalgic earworm.

Along with its Tamil release, a Telugu dubbed version titled Premikula Roju also hit theatres during the same time. A simultaneous partially reshot but mostly dubbed Hindi version, Dil Hi Dil Mein, was later released in 2000.
